Perspective

An acquaintance of mine brought a bit closer through a mutual understanding of the grief of infertility is dealing with a huge heartbreak right now. She gave birth to her son, baby "L" conceived via invitro last week. He was full term, but he was born with very serious complications. She is fine, but he is being transferred to a leading research hospital. They believe this is the only possibility for his recovery. I'm vague, I know, but I want to be careful to protect their privacy.
It puts everything in perspective. Motherhood can be so difficult, but it's the best difficult there is. And if you have a healthy baby, regardless of what it took to get him or her here, then you have everything in the world. My heart truly breaks for her tonight, and I'd love it if you'd send some prayers or thoughts or hope for healing baby "L's" way. I'll be saying a special prayer of gratitude and praise for all of our beautiful babies either here or still on their way.

Definitely...praying for you friend, and also amazingly thankful for the healthy little ones here tonight with us.

IF puts a lot in perspective, doesn't it? While others might whine about sex of the baby, or BF'ing or C-Sections...we're just happy with whatever brings home a healthy baby.

And really, in the end, that's the most important thing (or should be) anyway!!

You're so right, Jess. IF puts so many things in the right light. I've been worried lately (SO SILLY!!) that Lily isn't "into" her sippy cup. Who the heck cares? Even if she's drinking out of a bottle for another six months -she's healthy and happy, so who cares?
Thanks for the prayers:)

Just posting in regards to your message on my last post. Thanks! I have to say I'd followed your story long before we got in the thick of things with our process and I saw your little girl and OMG my heart just melted! She is one of the most beautiful little girls I think I've ever seen! We are so lucky that our birthmothers have blessed us with amazing little people. Your right..how do you walk away from someone so special? I just find that the more we talk about it, the more difficult it is for people to understand why we want open adoption. That it is weird or doesnt seem right. Maybe not for them, but for us its perfect. Thanks for reading my blog :o)
