I swear on all that I have that what I'm about to say is true. Every bit of it.
Lily took her first two steps today. (HOORAY!!) Right in front of the physical therapist. Do you see what I'm telling you? Are you kidding me? She is doing everything in her power to make a fool out of me. :) We about died; what in the world are the chances? Here's what to learn from this: the second you start to worry about your child, call the doctor. It'll cure them immediately. :) And you know, she hasn't tried to walk even once more since then. What a stinker!
She ran her through a huge battery of tests, and it was seriously the most fun ego-stroke we have ever had! :) She is in the 98th percentile as far as social and verbal skills go AND...there is not ONE thing wrong with her legs. The therapist said she's as far away from qualifying for assistance as you can get:) I felt SO happy to hear it; I knew there was nothing wrong with her, but to hear a specialist say it AND have her tell us how bright out daughter is, I don't know if I've ever felt such pride. :)
So that was our morning. And remember how I was going on about how much Lily was sleeping? Well, today there was no nap. At all. Which makes for a bit of a grumpy girl and an even grumpier mommy. At about 3, I noticed a funny rash on her face. By the time my husband had gotten upstairs to see it, it had spread to her arms. I immediately called the doctor and they scheduled us an emergency appointment. So, we rushed into the doctor. We live on five minutes away and by the time we got there, her face was bright red with white raised bumps, her arms and legs were covered with the same rash. I have never been so terrified in my life. Turns out, it was just hives. HIVES? She didn't eat anything different today than she usually eats, we didn't go out anywhere, she sure doesn't have stress in her life. The doctor said sometimes they never know was causes them. We gave her some baby Benadryl and now she's totally fine. No trace of any hive at all. And now she's soundly to bed early (6:55), and I'm taking my first breath of the day. I'm telling you what, I am exhausted. I can't believe all of this has happened in less than 12 hours. :) You can bet I'll be in to look at her multiple times during the night. She's about to give me my own case of hives!

I'm glad that the appt went well and that Lily WALKED!! Ava takes a few steps here and there but never walks. She thinks its funny. I really believe it.
Sorry about the hives! I once got them really bad when Trav and I were dating for no apparant reason. Never did find out what was up.

That's weird about the hives, but I'm glad it wasn't more serious than that. :)

That's tremendous! Just goes to show that all the worrying we do doesn't really accomplish anythign in the long run. Glad to hear that she's a super-baby!

Great news about Lily, well, the walking part that is! Sorry to hear about the hives, that must have been just so scary! I hope she's back to her old self in no time.
Ha! Don't you LOVE IT? :) They'll make a fool outta ya! Alayna walked at 15 months on Mother's Day. I was ready with the PT/OT/QT/BT and whatever other T there was lol...and she did it in her own time.
Glad LILY WALKED IT OUT :) Now, the hives...that is hilarious! Teeting too? Priceless.

I think this happened to Shannon at Rocks in my Dryer. her daughter wasn't speaking, but then lo and behold, said her first words in front of the speech therapist. LOL.
oh, and we have BTDT with our first rash. UGG! Total scare!

Yeah for Lily taking steps and I'm so glad her hives went away so easily! That sure is scary! And you are so right - as soon as you go to the dr it seems like the problem resolves itself.

Sorry to hear about the hives, poor little thing! I can totally believe the walking in front of the PT. My daughter was a late walker too. She didn't take her first steps until around fourteen months. She was too busy doing other things.

Oh, & hives SUCK!!!!!!! They actually HURT too. Oh yes they do. Glad she's all fixed up now. :)

Oh I know about the HIVES but with me not the boys. I had them my whole pregnancy and no one could tell me why. Modern medicine and not one clear answer..go figure!

She had hives too once. Never knew why. Never had them again.
One Tues Shep got sent home from school for impetigo. Took him to the dr that afternoon. The next morning Maggie flew out of her high chair and busted her frenulum = lots of blood and screaming. Back to the dr, all of us in our pyjamas. Come home, change ER's diaper, and she is covered in hives.
Great day.
